The reason for this trip? Just one of those why not? kind of things! Also, I live in Portland, OR, and my good friend Ret was in grad school at ASU in Tempe. And anyway, you can't beat the fall weather in Arizona -- warm during the day and cool at night!

These pages started out so that friends and family could follow along while I was on my adventure, but now that the journey's over the site is more for me to document the trip for myself. I thought perhaps others might find it useful and/or interesting, though, so I'll keep it online. Fellow touring cyclists will hopefully find the Data pages useful in planning future tours along the same route.
